New Meadowdale Library opening in Chesterfield County
Richmond Times-Dispatch, 11/6/2008 - The new Meadowdale Library at 4301 Meadowdale Blvd. will open Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. The library's temporary trailer location on Cogbill Road will close Nov. 5, at 9 p.m. Book drops will remain open at the trailer through the weekend so customers can return materials.

HHHunt pulls the plug for now on Branner Station
Chesterfield Observer, 11/6/2008 - It could become a sign of the times - HHHunt has suspended its plans to build Branner Station on 1,614 acres southeast of Chester. Just approved last year, Branner Station called for 2,449 single-family homes, 1,331 condos and townhouses, 908 apartments, 300 assisted living units and 470,000 square feet of office and retail development.

Richmond Times-Dispatch, 10/22/2008 - In May, Chesterfield panel rejected plans because of a stream A tiny subdivision application is making big waves in Bon Air. The proposal, for a 5-acre, six-home infill project called Bon Air Walk at the intersection of Buford Road and Sunview Lane, is back before the Chesterfield County Planning Commission tomorrow. It was rejected by a 4-1 vote in May.

Looking for tenants
Chesterfield Observer, 10/22/2008 - The Bond Companies is pushing ahead to redevelop Spring Rock Green (formerly Beaufont Center) in spite of today's lessthan cheery retail environment. Earlier this year, the company bought the 41-acre site on Midlothian Turnpike opposite Cloverleaf Mall to refurbish the center for 330,000 square feet of retail, 120,000 square feet of office and some light industrial.

County may build new library in Magnolia Green
Chesterfield Observer, 10/9/2008 - The Matoaca District could get a new library, in addition to scheduled major improvements to the existing Ettrick-Matoaca Library. About $2.9 million is being set aside for a possible library in the planned community of Magnolia Green, located on Route 360 five miles west of Route 288, but additional funds from a later bond referendum will be needed.

County supervisors reject impact fees…for now
Chesterfield Observer, 10/3/2008 - The Chesterfield Board of Supervisors took the possibility of enacting impact fees off the table last week, but there is some sympathy expressed for reviving the issue later. A proposal by county staff recommended implementing a $5,820 fee on about 9,000 residential lots countywide when a building permit is applied for. Impact fees would have applied only to lots that were rezoned prior to 1992 and did not pay a proffer. Residential lots already subdivided, those part of a CDA (Community Development Authority), workforce housing selling for less than $200,000, and properties subdivided into five or less family lots would have been exempted.

Residents win skirmish, larger battle yet to come
Chesterfield Observer, 10/3/2008 - Some 200 residents, mostly from neighboring Bayhill Pointe, forced the 250-acre Francis Beers rezoning case to be withdrawn last week, but virtually everyone expects a return match next year. In the hallway outside the public meeting room after the case was withdrawn, you could hear numerous residents muttering, "It's not over."
